Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the reversal in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative feedback generated by Dev Talk 10, which detailed plans for a four-division rank drop halfway through the season.

The community criticized the proposed system for its discouraging effect on player progression. In response, Marvel Rivals confirmed that ranks will now remain unchanged from the first half of the season. End-of-season resets will still occur, resulting in a six-division drop.

Other planned updates remain on track. The addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still scheduled. NetEase Games continues to aim for two new playable characters per three-month season. Rewards for Gold rank and above players also remain unchanged, including a free Invisible Woman costume for Gold rank and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above. Additional end-of-season rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above, are also planned. Balance adjustments are also anticipated post-mid-season update, though specifics are yet to be revealed.

The rapid reversal of the mid-season reset demonstrates Marvel Rivals’ responsiveness to community feedback. The developers emphasized their commitment to player engagement, stating their dedication to making Marvel Rivals the best possible game through community input.
