Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6, Capcom's hit fighting game, continues to attract players with its latest addition: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Having sold 4.4 million copies by December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 has seen a recent surge in popularity thanks to this new character.

Mai Shiranui, the third fighter of Season 2, significantly boosted the game's player base. On her release day, Steam's peak online player count soared past 63,000—a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 and the best result since May 2024.

Available to Battle Pass holders, Mai Shiranui offers more than just combat prowess. In World Tour mode, players can cultivate relationships with her, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.

The excitement doesn't stop there. Battle Hub temporarily welcomes Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer, as a guest character until March 10th. Further updates include new Master League ranks and rewards.

Capcom showcased Mai Shiranui's impressive fighting techniques in a recently released trailer.
