Despite the stringent measures put in place by EA, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) for players involved in the closed playtesting of their upcoming untitled Battlefield game, leaks have inevitably surfaced online. These leaks, comprising numerous videos and screenshots, have provided the gaming community with a glimpse into what participants have been experiencing.
As previously hinted by Vince Zampella, the game appears to be set in a modern era, differentiating it from its predecessors. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals a plethora of content, including intense firefights, demonstrations of the game's signature destructible environments, and innovative new gameplay mechanics. Among these are the intriguing abilities to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.
Surprisingly, EA has taken a notably lenient stance towards these leaks, refraining from issuing takedowns despite the clear breach of confidentiality agreements by the players. This relaxed approach might be attributed to the positive reception the leaked content has received, in stark contrast to the tepid response to Battlefield 2042. Enthusiasts have expressed genuine excitement and optimism about the new game.
Players have praised various aspects of the leaked footage, with comments such as, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" and "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me." Others have been particularly impressed with the game's visuals and sound effects even in its pre-alpha stage, noting, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" and "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."
EA anticipates the release of this new Battlefield title within the fiscal year 2026, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026. Following the first official unveiling last month, it was confirmed that the game will feature a return to a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a move warmly received by fans who missed this element in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
