Halo Infinite's "Summer 2025 Update," running until June 10, is now live, bringing a fresh wave of excitement for fans. This update introduces new playlists, the powerful Mutilator weapon, sandbox enhancements, and new Forge tools. Players can also enjoy more weapons on the Weapon Bench, 50 additional tiers, four armor sets, bonus XP, and an extra challenge slot for those opting for the Premium Operation Pass.
Despite these new additions, the update might not be enough to win back all fans. Halo Infinite has undergone significant changes since its launch, including the rebranding of its developer from 343 Industries to Halo Studios. This followed a sharp decline in player numbers, attributed to frustrations over content scarcity, ineffective progression systems, monetization issues, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.
However, many fans believe Halo Infinite has never been better. In a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one passionate fan shared: "I can't imagine anyone who enjoys Halo but hasn't given this game another chance, or hasn't played since launch, would be disappointed. The game has evolved tremendously with three new guns, countless new maps, multiple new firefight modes, and a vast array of unlockable items. A relaunch campaign showcasing these additions could significantly boost its reputation."
The fan continued, highlighting the game's growth: "Three new pieces of equipment, five new guns, over a hundred new maps, ten new game modes, hundreds of new armor pieces, an improved free credit shop, quadrupled ranked playlists, career rank to grind for, and all the old battle passes adding up to nearly a thousand tiers. Plus, there's an incredible Forge, custom games browser, firefight, and AI integration in Forge."
Other fans echoed these sentiments. One agreed, saying, "The game is easily the best since [Halo 3] and the best 343 has produced. It took time, but it's been a fun journey." Another shared, "I have a friend who wrote it off early and hasn't come back. I tell him it's solid now, but he doesn't want to hear it." A third fan added, "Multiplayer-wise, it's the best Halo ever made."

In another Reddit thread centered around an iconic image from Halo Infinite's marketing, fans shared their thoughts. One fan responded, "I really love Infinite. It revitalized my love for the series which I had stopped playing during Halo 4’s lifespan. The Spartan customization, rotating game modes, custom games, and campaign are all fantastic. The music is a banger, and the gameplay feels very fluid and organic, blending classic and modern elements perfectly."
The fan continued, "Approaching my first Onyx rank and on track to be the first Halo game where I hit max career rank. Infinite has outgrown its initial release and only gotten better. I’m optimistic about future updates and consider it one of my favorites in the series!"
Another fan replied, "Halo Infinite scratches that itch that I wish COD did. It's the best arena shooter on Xbox right now." However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm. A less enthused fan said, "This image represents the last bit of hope I had. I genuinely think Halo’s time is over, as the people who made the magic happen are gone."
### Xbox Games Series Tier ListIGN awarded Halo Infinite's single-player campaign a 9/10 in their review, stating, "Halo Infinite's single-player campaign is exactly what this series needed. It brings out the best in Master Chief's combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments. Its story falls short for both new and veteran players, but it was worth the six-year wait."
As Microsoft continues its multiplatform strategy, some Xbox fans speculate about Halo potentially coming to PlayStation, following titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War. In November, Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, mentioned there are no “red lines” in its first-party lineup, leaving the door open for such a move.
