Get ready to experience high-speed futuristic racing! Nintendo has just announced the addition of two classic F-Zero GBA titles to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack: F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend!
Nintendo's iconic F-Zero franchise is revving up for a return! Starting October 11th, Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can enjoy the thrilling gameplay of F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax.
The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990). Its groundbreaking speed and innovative gameplay influenced other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for pushing the technological boundaries of its time, F-Zero remains a benchmark for fast-paced retro console racing (SNES).
Like the beloved Mario Kart series, F-Zero features intense races filled with track obstacles and rival machine battles. The series' star, Captain Falcon, even made his mark as a fighter in Super Smash Bros.!
F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, has remained a region-exclusive title until now—a nearly two-decade wait! This marks the first new F-Zero entry since the release of the Switch's F-Zero 99 last year. In a past interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited Mario Kart's popularity as a factor contributing to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.
This October 2024 Switch Online + Expansion Pack update brings F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend to a new generation of players. Prepare for intense competition across various modes, including Grand Prix, story mode, and time trials!
