Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer from Bandai Namco showcases the gameplay and significant improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. This action RPG, initially a PlayStation Vita exclusive, now arrives on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on January 10th, boasting enhanced visuals and gameplay mechanics.

The game retains its core loop: battling giant mechanical creatures (Abductors), harvesting materials, upgrading equipment, and completing missions within a bleak, resource-depleted world. Players take on the role of a "Sinner," sentenced to perform missions for their Panopticon (city-state). Missions vary from citizen rescue and Abductor destruction to capturing crucial control systems, playable solo or cooperatively online.

The remastered version significantly enhances the original. Expect dramatically improved graphics: PS5 and PC players enjoy 4K (2160p) resolution at 60 FPS, while PS4 offers 1080p at 60 FPS, and the Switch version runs at 1080p, 30 FPS. Gameplay is faster-paced due to streamlined design and new mechanics, including increased movement speed and improved attack cancellation.

Crafting and upgrading have received a major overhaul. The interfaces are more intuitive, and modules are now freely attachable and detachable. A new module synthesis feature lets players enhance modules using resources gained from rescuing citizens. For seasoned players, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode has been added. All original customization DLC from the PS Vita version is included from launch. The trailer highlights these features and offers a glimpse into the improved control systems.
