Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade Coming to Switch 2 Confirms Director

Nintendo's Creator's Voice series just dropped exciting news - Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy Remake series, confirmed FFVII Remake Intergrade is heading to Switch 2.

A New Era for Midgar on Nintendo

Originally released as a PS4 exclusive in 2020, this modern reimagining of the beloved 1997 classic received enhanced PS5 and PC versions dubbed Intergrade. Now Midgar's steel towers are coming to Nintendo's next-gen handheld.

"Switch 2's upgraded hardware lets us bring Midgar to life with all its visual splendor," Hamaguchi revealed during the discussion. The enhanced version features improved textures, lighting effects, and includes the Intermission DLC starring fan-favorite Yuffie.

Portable Post-Apocalyptic Adventure

"Imagine experiencing Midgar's sprawling slums during your morning commute," Hamaguchi mused about the handheld benefits. Unlike previous generations where Final Fantasy skipped Nintendo platforms due to technical limitations, Switch 2 finally bridges that gap.

The Switch 2 edition will integrate GameChat functionality, letting players share their journey in real-time with friends. "This could revolutionize how JRPGs connect players," Hamaguchi noted enthusiastically.

More Than Just One Game

While only Intergrade has been officially announced, Hamaguchi hinted at future possibilities: "We're optimistic about bringing the entire Remake trilogy to Switch 2." This suggests Rebirth and the upcoming finale may eventually follow.

Ironically, Final Fantasy famously departed Nintendo consoles after VI - only to make its triumphant return through these ambitious remakes. Twenty-seven years after swapping cartridges for CDs, FFVII completes its circle back to Nintendo hardware.
