While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing, sales momentum eventually decreased, resulting in the game falling short of projected financial year targets. Precise sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.
However, the company clarified that they don't consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete failure. Furthermore, they remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still achieve its goals within the 18-month timeframe.
