With less than 24 hours until the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, excitement is building as Nintendo prepares to unveil its plans for the next generation of its popular console. A recent filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has sparked speculation about what might be in store, particularly regarding the controller lineup for the Switch 2.

On March 31, an FCC filing under the product code "BEE-008" surfaced, as reported by Famiboards and covered by Nintendo-focused outlets like GoNintendo. This filing appears to be for a new game controller, and many fans are speculating that it could be the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. While this is still speculation, as Nintendo has not officially confirmed the existence of a Switch 2 Pro Controller, certain features listed in the filing suggest it might be a Pro model, including Bluetooth and NFC capabilities.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this potential Switch 2 Pro Controller is the inclusion of a headphone jack. Unlike the original Switch Pro Controller, which lacked this feature, the new controller could offer this convenient quality-of-life enhancement, aligning it with competitors like the DualSense and Xbox Series controllers. Past FCC filings have often provided early glimpses into Nintendo's plans, lending some credibility to the speculation surrounding this controller. However, without further leaks, we'll have to wait for the Switch 2 Direct for official confirmation.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is set to air tomorrow at 6am PT / 9am ET on Nintendo's channels. This event promises a "closer look" at the Switch 2 following its initial reveal earlier this year, and fans are hopeful for detailed information, including a potential release date. Nintendo has confirmed that the Direct will last for an hour, and they have also scheduled two Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 presentations with hands-on gameplay for April 3 and April 4, starting at 7am PT each day.
