Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gets Surprise Free Weapon DLC After Months Without an Update

BioWare may have largely moved on from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but a surprise free DLC weapons pack has emerged, much to the delight of fans. The Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer appeared on the game's Steam page, a welcome addition given EA's previous indication of limited future support. This new content, following January's fifth patch focused primarily on bug fixes, feels almost miraculous, even if small in scope.

Interestingly, this Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is currently only available to existing owners and new PC purchasers before April 8, 2025. Details on the bundle's contents remain scarce, though players have discovered it unlocks a set of Watchful skins accessible in their in-game Rook's room. Availability on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remains unconfirmed.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard, released to generally positive critical reviews in October, reportedly failed to reach a wide enough audience, according to EA. In late January, key team members departed BioWare, with many staff members laid off or reassigned. EA subsequently confirmed to IGN that the studio was fully focused on the next Mass Effect title.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was added to the PlayStation Plus March 2025 lineup, just four months after its launch. No further plans for the game have been announced.
