DOOM Renaissance: Beloved Classics Revived

While awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM titles. Good news for fans: development has resumed, and a recent update significantly enhanced the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation.

This update isn't just about visual improvements; it boosts the games' technical performance and expands multiplayer capabilities. Support for multiplayer modifications has been added, with compatibility for mods created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay now allows all players to collect items simultaneously, and a spectator mode has been introduced for players waiting for revival. Network code optimization further enhances the multiplayer experience. The mod loader has also received an upgrade, now capable of handling significantly more than the initial 100+ subscribed mods.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer extensive customization options, surpassing previous id Software titles in this regard. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the team's commitment to making the game accessible to a wide range of players.

Players will have granular control over enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and other gameplay elements such as pacing, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't required to understand the narratives in both DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal.
