Phantom Breaker makes a comeback! Crunchyroll has added Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate Mobile to its library. This anime-style pixel-art beat 'em up remaster refines the cult classic with more responsive controls tailored for mobile play.
Originally developed by Mages under the 5pb. label, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds first debuted in February 2013 for Xbox 360. It branched off from the main Phantom Breaker fighting game series, showcasing 2.5D visuals with anime-inspired chibi character designs. Check out the mobile version below.
The adventure begins in Tokyo, where a mysterious man known as Phantom seeks to reclaim his sealed powers. He equips youths with Fu-mension Artifacts—weapons that carry grave risks.
Their clashes create fractures across parallel worlds, tearing at the fabric of space-time. Waka Kumon, descendant of a warrior lineage dedicated to thwarting such threats, joins forces with Mikoto. Before they can intervene, Phantom escapes, kidnapping Waka’s younger sister Nagi.
This sparks an epic journey. Mikoto, Waka, Itsuki, and Yuzuha battle through waves of foes across parallel dimensions in pursuit of Nagi. Their mission spans eight demanding stages.
The remaster includes 15 playable characters. As you defeat enemies, your characters gain experience and skill points to unlock new abilities.
Built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, the game delivers fluid combat and enhanced online features.
As a Crunchyroll exclusive, the game requires a Crunchyroll subscription for free access. Visit the Google Play Store to download it now.
