In the main quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" of *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, Hans needs your assistance once more, this time at Trosky Castle. To progress, you'll need to harness the art of alchemy to create Fever Tonic. Here’s a detailed guide on how to find the recipe and brew this essential potion.

The recipe for Fever Tonic can be found within the Surgeon's Workshop at Trosky Castle. You have two options to access the workshop. The first is to stealthily sneak into the workshop. Alternatively, you can use your persuasion skills to convince the chamberlain that you will prepare a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach issues, which will grant you access to the workshop.

If sneaking isn't your preferred method, you can progress through the "For Whom the Bell Tolls" quest by delivering the horseshoe. After completing this task, return to the forge and engage with Cook Fanka. Offer to help her with her locked chest, and she'll lead you to the noble's kitchen. Upon entering, you'll find the chamberlain suffering from pain. Approach him, discuss his health, and successfully pass the skill checks to persuade him of your ability to help. This will allow you entry to the Surgeon's Workshop. If you manage to craft both a digestive potion and the fever tonic, returning these to the chamberlain will earn you a meeting with Thomas.

If you fail the skill checks, you'll need to resort to stealing some food, then exit the kitchen and head to the opposite side of the courtyard. Ascend the stairs to your right to reach another kitchen you're permitted to use, though a guard is stationed there. Offer him the stolen food, and he'll leave. You can then sneak upstairs to locate the Surgeon's Workshop. Inside, find the physician's journal on the bookshelf, read it, and use the station to brew your potions.

How to Brew Fever Tonic

The herbs required for the Fever Tonic are already laid out at the surgeon's station. Open your book to the Fever Tonicum page and follow these steps to brew the potion:

  • Pour wine into the cauldron.
  • Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
  • Lower the cauldron and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
  • Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves with the mortar and pestle.
  • Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
  • Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
  • Retrieve a phial from the bottom left shelf of the station, beneath the wine.
  • Distill the tonic using the Still.

Don't be discouraged if you don't succeed on your first attempt; you have ample herbs to work with, and more are available in the chest within the room. Given your previous experience with potion-making, crafting the Fever Tonic should be manageable.

Once you've brewed the Fever Tonic, you need to reach Thomas. If you've earned the chamberlain's trust by providing him with a digestive potion, return to him with both potions. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to discreetly make your way to the chapel, where you'll find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Converse with Adele to complete the quest.
