Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: A Double-Edged Sword

Cookie Run: Kingdom has announced its Version 5.6 update, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," packed with new content including Cookies, episodes, events, toppings, and treasures. However, the update's reception has been mixed, sparking controversy and a temporary postponement.

The Good:

The update introduces Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie, an Ancient+ Cookie with a Charge type and frontline position. His Awakened King skill inflicts significant damage and debuffs enemies. A special Nether-Gacha increases the chances of obtaining him, guaranteeing him every 250 pulls. Additionally, Peach Blossom Cookie, a new Epic Support Cookie, joins the roster, offering healing and buffs. A new World Exploration episode continues Dark Cacao Cookie's story, featuring Yin and Yang battle stages.

The Bad and the Ugly:

The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, a new highest rarity with a 6-star max promotion level, caused significant backlash. The addition of an eleventh rarity, instead of enhancing existing characters, angered players, leading to boycotts threatened by the Korean community and whale guilds.

In response to this negative feedback, the developers have postponed the update (originally scheduled for June 20th) to reconsider the changes. The official announcement can be found on their social media channels.
