Embarking on your quest, you'll unexpectedly encounter a fierce battle between Rey Dau and a monstrous foe in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Unfortunately, the enraged beast sets its sights on your hunting party, initiating a perilous confrontation.
Known Habitats: Windward Plains Breakable Parts: Horns, Wings, Tail Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x) Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod
Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, possesses the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's significantly vulnerable to water and ice. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status effects except Stun and Paralysis.
Employ Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for powerful strikes. Capitalize on this opportunity, especially when it unleashes its lightning attack, aiming for its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility).
Enhance your survivability with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and offers resistance to lightning and fire. Consider a meal that boosts elemental resistance as well. If dodging proves difficult, stay close to Rey Dau's legs; its attacks primarily target the front and rear.
Rey Dau's flight patterns offer strategic advantages. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps near the lone tree to briefly stun it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as its follow-up lightning attack there is particularly potent.

Capture Rey Dau for valuable rewards by depleting its health until it's near death (indicated by a skull icon on the mini-map). Set a Pitfall Trap and quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer before it escapes. Remember, Shock Traps are ineffective against this lightning dragon.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
