Activision has announced strict hardware-level security requirements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The upcoming title mandates TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot compatibility, marking a significant shift in the franchise's anti-cheat measures.

Activision's Team Ricochet anti-cheat division confirmed these hardware requirements in an official August 6 announcement. The security features - already adopted by games like Valorant and the upcoming Battlefield - aim to combat prevalent cheating tools.

According to Activision's support documentation, TPM 2.0 provides hardware-based security for Windows PCs, while Secure Boot verifies software integrity during system startup.

This implementation begins as a phased rollout during Black Ops 6 Season 05, with mandatory enforcement coming with Black Ops 7's release. While currently optional for existing titles, players receive warnings to enable these features ahead of the requirement.

"These protections represent a fundamental component of our anti-cheat strategy," Team Ricochet stated. Detailed setup instructions are available through Activision's support channels.

Legacy Hardware Incompatibility Concerns

The new requirements effectively exclude older PC configurations. Only systems with 8th Generation Intel processors or AMD Ryzen 2000-series chips (and newer) support these security features.

Addressing performance concerns, Activision clarified these systems only activate during startup: "The security checks occur at launch but remain dormant during gameplay."
