Indie developer Sander Frenken has exciting news for strategy game enthusiasts: his latest project, Battledom, is now in Alpha testing. This upcoming RTS-lite game is a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 release, Herodom. As a part-time developer, Frenken has dedicated approximately two years to crafting Battledom, which he describes as an evolution of his original vision for the tower defense hit, Herodom.

In Battledom, players will dive into the thrill of real-time strategy (RTS) battle mechanics, allowing for free movement of units across the map. Engage in tactical warfare by targeting enemies from afar and manually operating siege weapons to unleash devastating attacks. The game introduces a layer of strategic depth with the ability to deploy various formations in battle, enhancing the overall strategy element.

Resource management and unit customization are key components of Battledom. Players will use coins to recruit new units to their army, which initially come equipped with only the most basic weaponry and no armor. However, you can enhance your units by outfitting them with a variety of weapons and armor, each impacting crucial stats like range, accuracy, defense points, and attack power.

Instead of finding these enhancements through exploration, players will need to gather resources such as wood, leather, and coal within their village. These resources can then be used to craft items at specialized stations like the blacksmith or magician, adding a rich layer of crafting and customization to the gameplay experience.

Sander Frenken is well-regarded in the gaming community, particularly for Herodom, which has earned a stellar 4.6 rating on the App Store. Herodom offers players over 55 heroes to collect, more than 150 units and siege weapons, and challenges them to engage in historically inspired battles. As players progress, they unlock new hairstyles, bodies, crops, and animals for their farm, adding depth and personalization to the game.

Interested players can join the Battledom Alpha by downloading TestFlight on their iOS devices. To stay updated on this promising RTS-lite and all the latest developments, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit. Additionally, fans can explore Frenken’s other games by visiting the App Store.
