Images revealing ASUS' Xbox-branded handheld, codenamed Project Kennan, appear to have surfaced online.
As initially reported by 91mobiles and discovered by Eurogamer, leaked certification documents from Indonesia included two color variants of the ASUS ROG Ally 2 device - white and black models - before being removed from the U.S. FCC database.
Both models feature distinctive Xbox-style face buttons (Y, B, A, X rather than PlayStation or Nintendo layouts), with the black unit particularly notable for its dedicated Xbox button positioned left of the thumbstick. Current technical specifications remain fragmented, leaving performance differences between color variants unclear.
Windows Central's Jez Corden suggests Microsoft is actively testing prototypes at its Redmond headquarters, hinting at a potential May 20 unveiling.

The leak follows ASUS ROG's recent teaser on X/Twitter showing glimpses of both an Xbox controller and handheld device, later acknowledged by Xbox's official account with playful anticipation.
This development aligns with IGN's earlier report about Microsoft's hardware roadmap, including next-gen Xbox plans for 2027 and potential Xbox-branded handheld releases targeting late 2025.
While Project Kennan represents third-party collaboration, Microsoft reportedly plans its proprietary gaming handheld alongside next-gen Xbox hardware in 2027. Gaming chief Phil Spencer recently confirmed Microsoft's first-party handheld remains years from release.
Concurrently, production has reportedly begun on Xbox Series X's successor, scheduled for 2027 launch - consistent with Xbox president Sarah Bond's statements about delivering "the biggest technological leap ever" in console generations.
