Russian scanwords are truly a global phenomenon. No other language offers such a wealth of literary references, witty questions, and topics reflecting current world events – all packed into traditional crossword formats. The Russian people cherish and honor language, preserving words as their most valued treasure.

The app features a wide variety of scanwords – ranging from easy to challenging, with images, traditional clues, or associative hints like “one word” or “two words,” similar to Elder Fur’s style. Each issue includes an English-Russian scanword and a "holey" puzzle – you’ll quickly understand how it got its name. Our cheerful family characters welcome you on every page. Join the fun today!

All scanwords are completely free. This is an annual collection with 52–53 issues, each containing 20 puzzles. A full year’s worth of scanwords will use only around 50 MB of storage – images are lightweight, and text is just text. We respect your phone’s space.

You can solve puzzles offline once the issues are downloaded. New magazines are released every Friday. If you leave notifications on, you’ll receive a weekly reminder at 12:00 local time. The app automatically downloads new issues and won’t repeat successful downloads. You can also manually download or delete any magazine, or use Settings to download them all at once.

Core features, including full access to scanwords, remain free for users. Advertising partners support the experience, displaying a single banner per page and one interstitial ad before opening a scanword – without disrupting your solving flow. Plus, watching advertisers’ videos rewards you with free hints.

Every user has the option (but not the obligation) to remove ads by: a) disabling them permanently, b) subscribing to an ad-free experience with unlimited hints, or c) purchasing hints in bulk. All choices are available in the Shop.
