Yakuza Fans Vote on Unique Official Merch: Cult Clothes, Traffic Cones, and More

Yakuza / Like a Dragon is marking its 20th anniversary in style this year, and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is inviting fans to get involved in a unique way. To celebrate this milestone, the developer is allowing fans to vote on what official merchandise they'd like to see produced. The options range from the quirky to the downright bizarre, including cult clothing, a traffic cone, and even golden underwear among a list of 100 items. RGG Studio promises to bring the top two voted items to market within the next two years. While the competition is only listed in Japanese, fans can cast their votes on the official website.

Among the potential merchandise, some items are more traditional, like a 20th anniversary celebration hoodie or a Yakuza-themed pencil case. However, many options are inspired by the franchise's famously eccentric elements, making them even more intriguing in real life. For instance, fans can vote for the cult outfit worn by Munan Suzuki, leader of The Order of Munan Chohept Onast in Yakuza 0, the oversized traffic cone Majima uses to ambush Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the flamboyant "Puffy Gold Pants."

Other notable items include the sake Majima enjoys in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's iconic gold watch, the fountain pen Kiryu uses to write to Dojima in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the tambourine Kashiwagi plays during karaoke in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the wrestling mask Kiryu dons in Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among numerous other quirky choices.

The Yakuza / Like a Dragon series is set to continue its legacy with at least one new release in its 20th anniversary year of 2025. Fans can look forward to Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, set to launch on February 21. While RGG Studio made a significant impact with the 10th anniversary by releasing the beloved prequel Yakuza 0, no similar announcements have been made for later in the year. However, given the studio's track record of rapid development, the possibility of multiple releases in one year isn't out of the question. Over the last five years, RGG Studio has impressively released Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, along with two Super Monkey Ball games and an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5, totaling nine games.
