Xbox Unveils Avowed

In a striking display of immersive marketing, Xbox has brought the haunting world of Avowed to the streets of London with a towering statue of a decayed knight. This eerie figure, adorned with real-life mushrooms and signs of corrosion, embodies the grim reality of the game's Dreamscourge infection. The installation not only serves as a captivating art piece but also as a stark warning to passersby, drawing them into the dark narrative of Avowed. Complementing the statue, nearby posters promoting the game on Xbox Series X|S further transform an ordinary street into a gateway to the game's world.

To give fans an inside look at the creation of this ominous installation, Xbox has released an official video on YouTube. This video delves into the process behind the statue, offering a closer look at the intricate details that make this promotional effort so unique.

Amidst this innovative marketing, Avowed is receiving widespread acclaim from the gaming community. A significant 81% of Deluxe Edition players on Steam recommended the game before its launch, setting high expectations for the Standard Edition, which debuted today.

Gaming industry veteran Jason Schreier has shared his enthusiasm for Avowed, particularly praising its world design, storytelling, and combat. Schreier notes the game's compelling exploration:

"Avowed has me hooked. Obsidian’s storytelling and combat were expectedly strong, but it’s the world’s design that stands out. Every pathway leads somewhere, every rooftop is accessible, and there’s always a hidden detail waiting to be found. Even after 40 hours, I keep coming back."

However, Schreier also pointed out a divide between critics and players, drawing parallels to the reception of Fallout: New Vegas:

"Some of the reviews surprise me. It’s the same situation as Fallout: New Vegas—critics were split, but players turned it into a legend. Avowed could follow a similar trajectory."

Despite an initial Metacritic score of 83, Fallout: New Vegas eventually became a beloved classic. With its strong community support and compelling gameplay, Avowed may well be on its way to achieving the same revered status in the realm of RPGs.
