These cards form a “cycle,” each representing a distinct aspect of Tarkir’s three-color clans. Senior Game Designer Adam Prosak explains, “Three-color limited environments require robust mana fixing. We designed these creatures to help players address mana issues while staying competitive on the board.”
“By allowing players to generate mana tied to their clan’s colors, these cards ensure smooth gameplay,” adds Prosak. “They let you keep pace with opponents while building your deck.”

Senior Worldbuilding Designer Lauren Bond notes, “This cycle highlights the clans’ evolution since their last appearance. From the action-focused monks of Jeskai to the mystical Temur, the protective Nagas of Sultai, the disciplined Mardu warriors, and the spiritual Abzan clerics, each card tells a story.”
