Here are some things we wish we'd known earlier to make our start much easier.
Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks
Screenshot by The EscapistInitial concerns about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP proved largely unfounded. Death doesn't result in item loss, regardless of the killer. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, leading to greater item loss upon your own death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed.
Therefore, avoid attacking players unless strategically necessary or backed by a group.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistInventory and bank space are severely limited. The solution? Crafting bags! You can equip two at once, starting with the Cotton Bag.
Obtain Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 inventory slots – craft them ASAP.
Pets Don't Perish
Screenshot by The EscapistContrary to popular belief, pets don't die permanently. After reaching zero health, they have a 5-minute summon cooldown. Check this cooldown using the 'T' key. After the cooldown, simply press 'T' again to resummon.
Bonus: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the stable master (you have one free slot).
Accept All Quests
Screenshot by The EscapistRune Slayer boasts a plethora of non-repeatable, forgettable quests (mostly "kill X" type). The solution? Accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. This simplifies task management, often allowing for quest combination.
Craft Everything At Least Once
Screenshot by The EscapistPrioritize crafting necessities, but use spare materials to craft anything you can. Initial crafting often unlocks new, superior crafting options (e.g., unlocking Iron Armor after smelting Iron Ore).
Join a Guild
While solo-friendly, Rune Slayer introduces challenging enemies requiring group efforts. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups for tackling tougher foes. Join via general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord.
