Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their newly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more engaging layer to the already charming pixel-art adventure.

Even though TownsFolk is fresh on the market, the developers are not holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a host of new mechanics, buildings, and challenges that significantly enhance the depth of the game. Players will now encounter roaming Barbarians, adding a thrilling element of tension to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, eight new structures are introduced: the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer, each promising unique functionalities and strategic opportunities.

The aquatic aspect of the game also sees an upgrade with the introduction of rare Whales in the water tiles, adding a new layer of exploration and interaction. Moreover, the unpredictability of the game world is heightened with the addition of Special Locations, including mysterious ancient Obelisks and intriguing new Shipwrecks.

To help players navigate through these new elements, the update includes a comprehensive Compendium, serving as an in-game encyclopedia. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preferred level of intensity.
