Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of Hazelight's hit game, Split Fiction. The film, which is being spearheaded by video game adaptation specialist Story Kitchen—the team behind the Sonic films—is now gaining momentum. According to Variety, the project is shaping up with Wicked director Jon M. Chu at the helm and the screenplay penned by Deadpool & Wolverine writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Story Kitchen is currently pitching this talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.

A major point of interest is which sister Sydney Sweeney will portray: Zoe or Mio. Variety notes that this decision remains pending.
Split Fiction, which launched in March, has quickly become another success story for Hazelight and its designer Josef Fares, selling over 2 million copies in its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2.
IGN's review of Split Fiction awarded it a 9/10, praising it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another. Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."
Hazelight isn't stopping at Split Fiction. Another of their successful titles, It Takes Two, which sold 23 million copies, is also being adapted into a film, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring.
While there's always a chance these projects might not come to fruition, the current wave of successful video game adaptations suggests Hollywood is eager to capitalize on this trend.
Last year, Story Kitchen also announced a film adaptation of Square Enix's Just Cause, directed by Blue Beetle's Ángel Manuel Soto. They are also working on adaptations of Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.
As for Hazelight, they are already teasing their next game, continuing their streak of innovative gaming experiences.
