Suikoden's latest venture, Suikoden STAR LEAP, is poised to offer players a console-quality experience on their mobile devices. In a revealing interview with Famitsu on March 4, 2025, the game's developers provided insights into their creative process.

Star Leap's Producer, Shinya Fujimatsu, elucidated Konami's decision to target mobile platforms, stating, "Our goal was to make Suikoden accessible to as many people as possible. Mobile is the most convenient platform for this, and we are committed to infusing STAR LEAP with the true essence of Suikoden." The team's ambition is to blend the high-quality visuals, sound, and storytelling of console games with the ease of access that mobile platforms offer.

Director Yoshiki Meng Shan added to this by describing the series' characteristic blend of upbeat camaraderie and serious moments. He also praised the series' battle system, saying, "The collaborative nature of battles, involving numerous characters, is a hallmark of Suikoden."

STAR LEAP is designed to serve as both a sequel and a prequel, weaving through various timelines within the Suikoden universe. Fujimatsu expressed enthusiasm about the game's quality, encouraging both fans and newcomers to give it a try. He remarked, "Even if you're new to the series, STAR LEAP's mobile format makes it easy to dive into the story and gameplay. We hope it serves as an excellent entry point into the 'Suikoden Genso' world."

Echoing this, Meng Shan emphasized the team's dedication to maintaining the series' reputation, saying, "Suikoden is a cornerstone of Japanese RPGs. We've meticulously crafted every aspect of STAR LEAP—from story and graphics to the battle and training systems—to honor its legacy. We eagerly await your feedback upon release."
