In our comprehensive review, Mitchell Saltzman noted, "Stellar Blade stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses. Its story and characters may lack depth, and certain RPG elements, such as repetitive sidequests, could be better implemented. However, the game more than compensates with its robust Sekiro-inspired combat system, a variety of formidable enemies to conquer, and numerous hidden treasures that encourage thorough exploration." IGN gave Stellar Blade a solid 7/10, yet my personal experience with the game was even more positive, warranting a higher score in my book. Although it didn't make it to our list of the best PS5 games of 2024 due to its recent release (games must be out for at least 6 months to qualify), it's certainly a title to watch.

Stellar Blade is a visually and technically demanding game, which I recommend running in "Performance" mode to achieve a smooth 60fps. For those with a PlayStation 5 Pro, you can enjoy the best of both worlds with "Enhanced" 4K mode, maintaining impressive framerates. According to the official PlayStation blog, "With PS5 Pro, players will experience Stellar Blade in 4K at 50fps or higher, with enhanced gameplay smoothness, and improved detail and grain through PSSR upscale mode. Additionally, the HFR (high framerate) option supports gameplay at 80fps, requiring a 120Hz display."
