The release of the next Tom Holland Spider-Man movie has been pushed back by one week, now scheduled for July 31, 2026, instead of the previously announced July 24, 2026. Sony made this adjustment to their release calendar, likely to provide some breathing room for the film in relation to Christopher Nolan's upcoming movie, The Odyssey.
With this new schedule, the fourth Spider-Man film will premiere two weeks after The Odyssey, rather than the original one-week gap. This strategic move allows both films to enjoy a stint on Imax screens, which is particularly important given Nolan's preference for Imax presentations.
Tom Holland, who stars in both films, won't mind the slight delay. Marvel has confirmed that this fourth Spider-Man installment, following the release of Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026, will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Cretton previously helmed Shang-Chi for Marvel and was initially set to direct the next Avengers movie before changes in storylines prompted by issues surrounding the Kang character.
In a surprising twist, the Russo Brothers are returning to direct Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Doom. This news adds an exciting layer to the upcoming Marvel slate. For a full rundown of upcoming MCU projects, check out our comprehensive list here.
