Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a significant shakeup in their game library, as 22 titles are set to be removed on May 20, 2025. Among the games leaving are high-profile entries such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of Sony's first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. These removals mark the end of an era for the Resistance series on modern consoles, as both games are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, making the PS Plus Premium streaming service their last bastion—unless you still own a working PS3 with these games.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription-based service for PlayStation users that offers a range of benefits, including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive discounts for members. Additionally, Extra and Premium members have access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games, enhancing the gaming experience across various PlayStation platforms.
As highlighted by Push Square, the removal of these 22 games is significant, particularly because it includes two major first-party PS3 titles, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which were only recently added to the PS Plus Premium library at the end of 2024.

Developed by Insomniac Games, the Resistance series offers an alternate history through first-person shooters, following their success with the Ratchet and Clank franchise. The series saw three releases on the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it's rare for Sony to remove first-party games from PlayStation Plus, it's not unprecedented. The unexpected removal of the Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024 set a precedent, though those titles remained available for purchase. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will be completely inaccessible on modern consoles after their removal.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service, alongside other titles. Notably, the PS4 game InFamous: Second Son is also departing from PS Plus.
The Resistance series has been on hiatus for some time, and recent comments from Insomniac's founder and outgoing president Ted Price revealed an unsuccessful attempt to greenlight Resistance 4. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance seems to have been shelved, leaving fans hoping for a revival.
