Simpsons Producer Says Character Death Not Canon

The Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman has clarified that a recent episode featuring a major character's death shouldn't be taken as established lore - since the iconic animated series essentially operates "without canon".

Selman confirmed that Season 36's finale episode Estranger Things and its consequential developments will probably never be mentioned again in future storytelling.
