Pokémon TCG Pocket butters up players with free trade tokens as they work on improving feature

Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading feature, while highly anticipated, has had a less-than-stellar launch. Player feedback has led developers to announce a rework of the trading system.

As a temporary measure, all players will receive 1000 Trade Tokens via the in-game Gifts menu. Trade Tokens are a crucial currency for card trading within the app.

The developers previously announced plans to simplify trading and currency acquisition. Many players criticized the initial trading restrictions, such as rarity limitations and the mandatory currency.

Reworking the Trading System

The initial design choices regarding trading seem questionable. A more open trading system, or the complete omission of trading, might have avoided the current controversies. While botting and exploitation are valid concerns, the existing restrictions likely posed minimal obstacles to determined players.

The upcoming trading rework is crucial. A successful digital TCG trading system could significantly enhance the game's appeal as a viable alternative to the physical card game.
