Pokemon GO enthusiasts have a thrilling update to look forward to during the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event. For the first time ever, players will be able to utilize remote raid passes in Shadow Raids, a feature that has been eagerly anticipated since Shadow Raids were introduced to the game in 2023. This new addition promises to enhance the gaming experience by allowing trainers to participate in Shadow Raids from the comfort of their homes.
The Fashion Week: Taken Over event is set to run from Wednesday, January 15, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, players can engage in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely. A significant advantage of participating in these Shadow Raids is the opportunity to capture Pokemon with higher IV stats, making it an exciting prospect for those aiming to bolster their teams with powerful creatures.
The introduction of remote raid passes for Shadow Raids is limited to the duration of the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. However, players can also take advantage of this feature during the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day on January 19, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. On this special day, trainers will have an increased chance of encountering the rare shiny shadow Ho-Oh and can teach it the powerful charged attack, Sacred Fire. Additionally, players can use a Charged TM on their Shadow Pokemon to replace the move Frustration with a more desirable one.
The ability to use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids has been one of the most requested features by the Pokemon GO community since the inception of Shadow Raids. This temporary addition is likely to be met with enthusiasm from gamers who appreciate the flexibility of remote participation. However, once the Fashion Week: Taken Over event concludes, the use of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids will cease.
It remains uncertain whether Niantic plans to make this feature a permanent part of Pokemon GO. The developers have faced criticism in the past regarding the need for in-person gatherings for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, which require a significant number of trainers to tackle tougher monsters. If remote raid passes for Shadow Raids become a regular feature, it could address some of these concerns and enhance the overall accessibility and enjoyment of the game for many players.
