I’ve spotted quite a few PlayStation Portal deals via Amazon Resale before, but I’ve never seen one this low. As part of today’s Prime Day Sale kickoff, Amazon is offering an extra 30% off on select Amazon Resale items — including video game accessories like the "Used: Like New" PlayStation Portal, now just $124.12 with free shipping. Items labeled "Like New" are typically brand new and unused, though their packaging may show minor wear. While a Sony warranty isn’t guaranteed, Amazon Resale still includes a 30-day return policy. Honestly, it felt like such a steal, I just ordered one myself.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony’s handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembling a DualSense controller split apart with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen in the middle. It streams games from your PS5 at up to 60fps, turning your console into a portable gaming machine. It mirrors all the DualSense features, like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen acting as the touchpad. You can even play outside your home — as long as you have a fast, highly stable internet connection. Keep in mind, the PS Portal is not a stand-alone device — it’s a remote player for your PlayStation 5, so a PS5 is required.

You no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the PlayStation Portal. Thanks to a feature that lets you stream directly from the PlayStation Now cloud service, you are no longer limited to mirroring your PS5 to the $200 handheld. Owners can connect either to their PS5 console or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, thanks to recent beta updates released in April. With the latter option, you can access a library of over 120 titles, including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Note that you’ll need the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, but $18 per month is far more appealing than buying every new game.

It’s important to note the PlayStation Portal isn’t the only way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi inside your home. You can replicate the experience with the PS Remote Play app on mobile devices, including other handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setup is more cumbersome, and you lose access to certain DualSense features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"I approached the PlayStation Portal with plenty of doubt but came away genuinely impressed. It’s a far better experience than pairing a phone with a snap-on controller, and its performance surpassed all my expectations. I love the freedom to play my PS5 anywhere with solid WiFi, especially when my family has taken over the TV (ironically for the Switch). Keep in mind it’s not a stand-alone device — it absolutely depends on a PlayStation 5. The two main downsides are the inability to connect to WiFi networks that require a browser login, and the lack of Bluetooth audio support. Still, it’s the best solution available today for PlayStation Remote Play. Without those two odd limitations, I’d recommend it as a must-own accessory for any PS5 owner who loves handheld gaming — or needs to share the main TV."
