A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedrunner achieved an extraordinary feat at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, where playtime was limited to just 10 minutes. As reported by VGC, Japanese content creator Ikaboze managed to beat the final boss, Ganon, in a mere seven minutes using an existing save file, despite not knowing what equipment Link had. In a bold move, Ikaboze decided to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed," which added an extra layer of difficulty to the challenge. The audience erupted in spontaneous applause as Ganon fell, showcasing the skill and determination of the speedrunner.
What made this achievement even more remarkable was that Ikaboze was using an unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game due to the convention hall's noise. "I was surprised by how many people had gathered," he said. "Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service in the Nintendo Switch Online app. If you already own Breath of the Wild on the original Switch, you can purchase an "upgrade pack" for $10 to access these enhanced features. Additionally, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.
Here's a look at the pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S. for those not opting for the upgrade:
