Nintendo debuts "Hello, Mario!" interactive face experience

Nintendo has officially launched its new interactive app called Hello, Mario! Initially announced earlier this month, the app is now available for download across Android, iOS, and Switch platforms - though currently limited to Japan's market.

A Different Kind of Mario Experience

Breaking from Nintendo's traditional gaming formula seen in titles like Mario Kart Tour or Super Mario Run, Hello, Mario! offers a unique shared experience for parents and children. This innovative app focuses on playful interaction rather than competitive gameplay.

Interactive Fun with Mario

Upon launching the app, users are greeted by Mario's expressive 3D face. The interaction mechanic - where players can tap and stretch his polygonal head - cleverly echoes the nostalgic Super Mario 64 start screen from the N64 era.

Functioning as an elaborate soundboard, the app features various interactive elements. Users can poke or drag Mario's face to trigger his iconic vocal responses, creating an engaging experience that rewards experimentation.

Introducing the My Mario Product Line

Hello, Mario! serves as the inaugural release in Nintendo's new My Mario series, designed to help parents introduce younger children to the beloved Mario universe. Alongside the digital app, Nintendo has launched complementary physical products including:

  • Wooden block sets
  • An interactive board book

While the app remains Japan-exclusive for now, Nintendo plans to release the My Mario merchandise globally in early 2026. International users eagerly awaiting the app's availability can follow Nintendo's official channels for updates on potential regional expansions.

Japanese users can currently download Hello, Mario! via the Google Play Store. For more Nintendo updates, check out our coverage of Pikmin Bloom's Mid-Autumn Festival celebration with special Mooncake Decor Pikmin.
