Albion Online Launches Abyssal Depths Update

After its initial announcement in May, the fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online has now released its highly anticipated Abyssal Depths update. Sandbox Interactive has introduced a thrilling new game mode to this world of sword and sorcery.

What's New in Albion Online's Abyssal Depths Update?

The name "Depths" fits perfectly, as the update unveils a new dungeon type concealed within ancient, demon-haunted aqueducts. This is a claustrophobic underground labyrinth designed for small groups of two to three players, who must fight both monstrous creatures and rival adventurers.

Within the Depths, you'll spend a variable amount of time gathering Souls and accumulating powerful buffs as you venture further down. Defeat will only cause you to lose your gathered inventory, keeping your primary equipment safe. The deepest chamber features a secured Treasure Vault awaiting discovery.

A unique feature of this update is the Antiquarian's Den. This sinister underground hub, accessible from every Royal City and Caerleon, serves as a dedicated launch point for entering the Abyssal Depths, Hellgates, and Corrupted Dungeons.

Furthermore, the new Antiquarian Standing system centers on the enigmatic Antiquarian who operates the Den. This system also introduces two new spiderling companions: the Hellspinner and the Soulspinner.

Plenty to Discover!

The Abyssal Depths expansion also adds two exceptional Crystal Weapons to Albion Online: the Truebolt Hammer and the Stillgaze Staff. The hammer allows you to pulverize foes with shocking force while protecting nearby allies. The staff, conversely, enables you to transform into a formidable Crystal Cobra.

Finally, a new Character Progression section has been added to the in-game Journal. Linked to the Destiny Board, it provides structured milestones, long-term achievements, and the chance to earn rare rewards.
