Konami fuels speculation about a potential Metal Gear Solid 4 remake and next-gen ports, possibly included in the anticipated Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami producer Noriaki Okamura recently hinted to IGN about the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots remake within MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside next-gen console ports. While acknowledging the fervent fan speculation surrounding a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC release, Okamura remained elusive about concrete plans. He stated that Konami is aware of the demand but couldn't offer specifics at this time, urging fans to "stay tuned."
The possibility of MGS4, a PS3 exclusive since its 2008 release, being included in Master Collection Vol. 2 has been a major topic of discussion. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms, including PC and Switch, has only intensified this speculation.
Rumors of an MGS4 remake intensified last year following reports of placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appearing on Konami's official timeline. IGN further reported these titles as potential inclusions in the unannounced Master Collection Vol. 2. However, official confirmation from Konami is still pending.
Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November. Despite the mounting evidence, Konami remains tight-lipped about the contents and release plans for a potential MGS4 remake within Master Collection Vol. 2.
