David Hayter, the iconic voice behind Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's greeting on his Bluesky account, highlighting that 2025 is the Year of the Snake. With a new game on the horizon, this year could be monumental for the character. Hayter is set to reprise his role as Solid Snake in the highly anticipated remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
It's a remarkable coincidence that 2025 marks the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac and is also the target release year for the latest installment. Konami celebrated this serendipity with a captivating video on their official YouTube channel titled "New Year’s Greetings." The video featured three Taiko drummers performing energetically alongside a calligraphy artist who elegantly wrote the kanji for "snake." It concluded with "SNAKE YEAR" in all caps, symbolizing not just the zodiac's Snake, but also a nod to Solid Snake himself.
Since its announcement in May 2024, followed by a trailer and a demo at the Tokyo Game Show, there have been no further announcements or teasers for Metal Gear Solid Delta until now. However, in a recent interview with the Japanese game information website 4Gamer, producer Noriaki Okamura shared that one of their primary goals for 2025 is to deliver a highly polished and quality game.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is slated to launch in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater promises next-gen enhancements, including the integration of Phantom Pain mechanics, new voice-overs, and additional lines recorded by the original cast.
