NetEase Games has unveiled exciting details about Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, providing fans with a comprehensive look at the upcoming battle pass, new maps, and a fresh game mode. As Season 0 concludes, anticipation for Season 1: Eternal Night Falls is high. Marvel Rivals has released a new developer video blog, offering insights into what players can expect when the season launches on January 10 at 1 AM PST.
The new season will kick off with the introduction of Mister Fantastic and The Invisible Woman to Marvel Rivals. Each season will span roughly three months, with The Thing and Human Torch joining the roster six or seven weeks into Season 1. The developers have confirmed that Mister Fantastic will serve as a Duelist, while The Invisible Woman will take on the role of a Strategist. Additionally, the Baxter Building will feature prominently in one of the game's new maps, adding a touch of The Fantastic Four to the Marvel Rivals universe.
In Volume 3 of their Dev Vision video series, Marvel Rivals detailed the new additions coming with Season 1. Alongside The Fantastic Four characters, players can look forward to new maps, a new game mode, and a fresh battle pass. The battle pass, priced at 990 Lattice, will include 10 new skins, and players will earn back 600 Lattice and 600 Units as they complete it. A new game mode, Doom Match, will be introduced, set on the Empire of the Eternal Night: Sanctum Sanctorum map. This arcade-style mode will feature 8-12 players battling it out, with the top 50% of players emerging victorious at the end of the match.
The developers also provided insights into the other new maps. Empire of the Eternal Night: Midtown will be utilized for convoy missions, while Empire of the Eternal Night: Central Park is set to launch during the second half of Season 1, though specific details about this map were not disclosed. Rumors of a potential PvE mode have surfaced, but the developers did not address these in the latest update.
Player feedback has been a focal point for the developers, who have been closely monitoring community discussions. They acknowledged the need to balance characters like Hawkeye, who have shown ranged superiority, and plan to address various balancing issues throughout the first half of Season 1. The excitement among fans is palpable, as they eagerly await the launch of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls and all the new content it promises to bring.
