Get ready for an exciting update as Marvel Rivals gears up for its 2nd season with a focus on enhancing team-up skills and introducing stunning new skins for fan-favorite characters like Spiderman and Iron Man. Dive into the details of what NetEase has planned for this thrilling new season.
In an interview with PC Gamer on March 14, Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen shared exciting news about the game's upcoming updates. Starting from Season 2, new Team-Up skills will be introduced alongside adjustments to existing ones. These changes, combined with seasonal balance adjustments, aim to create a fresh combat environment and enhance the overall gaming experience.
Currently, Marvel Rivals boasts 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela paired with either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. As the game's roster continues to expand, NetEase faces the challenge of balancing these heroes to ensure fair and enjoyable gameplay for all players.
Chen elaborated on the team's approach to balancing heroes as Marvel Rivals introduces new characters. The process involves closely monitoring key metrics across different game modes, such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows. This data-driven approach ensures that heroes are balanced across various ranks and competitive environments.
Additionally, the team analyzes hero lineup compositions and their win rates, which serve as crucial references for overall balancing decisions. Player feedback from the community also plays a significant role in shaping these adjustments.
Chen mentioned in a January interview with Metro that Marvel Rivals plans to introduce a new hero every half-season, with each season lasting approximately three months. This means that the game could see up to eight new heroes added annually, presenting an ongoing challenge for the developers to maintain game balance.
Looking ahead, Chen confirmed that content for Season 2 is complete and ready to launch, with designs for Seasons 3 and 4 also finalized and currently in development. This aligns with NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for at least a decade, promising fans a continuous stream of exciting updates.
On March 18, NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official Twitter (X) account that new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man will be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spiderman's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a futuristic look with a digital mask, a spiked mohawk, and an electric guitar. Meanwhile, Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin embraces a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.
These skins, previously seen during the game's closed beta, have been eagerly awaited by fans. Following the release of Loki's Presidential attire, which was also tested in the beta, these new additions are set to enhance the visual appeal of the game. While NetEase has announced the release date, the prices for these skins have yet to be revealed.
As Marvel Rivals wraps up its first season, anticipation builds for the updates and changes coming in Season 2. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more information and updates on Marvel Rivals by following our coverage.
