MageTrain: Pixel Art Roguelike Adventure Hits Android

Tidepool Games has released an exciting pixel art roguelike titled MageTrain on Android, reminiscent of Nimble Quest with its fast-paced, snake-inspired gameplay.

What’s MageTrain All About?

MageTrain blends Snake mechanics with auto-battlers and roguelike elements. You guide a chain of heroes trailing behind you, each attacking independently as you navigate an arena.

Your role involves strategically positioning heroes to avoid collisions with enemies or obstacles. You decide who leads the group and who supports from behind, as their abilities shift based on their position in the lineup.

At launch, MageTrain features nine unique heroes, including one that hurls birds. Each hero’s skills vary depending on whether they’re at the front or following in the chain.

Explore eight distinct dungeons, battle 28 enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to strengthen your team. Collect gold and power-ups to enhance your squad along the way.

The roguelike structure ensures every run is unique, with branching paths and upgrade choices as you strive to survive as long as possible.

Similar to Slay the Spire or FTL, there are no fixed levels or save points. A wrong move or overwhelming enemy waves mean starting fresh.
