The debut trailer for Resident Evil Requiem spotlights newcomer Grace Ashcroft, yet speculation swirls that fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy may also take center stage in this survival horror saga.
Longtime Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has fueled rumors of Leon’s involvement, but the trailer itself offers compelling hints worth exploring.
Following an introduction to Grace Ashcroft, likely tied to Resident Evil Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft, the trailer reveals a ravaged Raccoon City, obliterated by a missile strike in Resident Evil 3’s finale.
Raccoon City has appeared in numerous Resident Evil titles, but its most iconic role was in Resident Evil 2, led by Leon. In the Resident Evil 9 trailer, the dilapidated Raccoon City Police Department, Leon’s former workplace, stands recognizable yet worn. Some fans even spot what could be Leon’s old car parked nearby.
Is that Leon's Jeep in front of the R.P.D.?

The return to this setting strongly suggests Leon’s involvement, especially given Grace’s role as a government agent. After Raccoon City’s fall, Leon became a U.S. special agent in Resident Evil 4 and 6, prompting theories that he and Grace may already be connected or will soon meet.
I might be delusional but I'm rewatching the trailer and the 3rd photo in the frame looks like RE6 Leon lol.

Some fans believe Leon’s presence is already teased in the trailer. At the 2:45 mark, a line—“Investigating all these strange deaths, huh?”—is thought to be voiced by Nick Apostolides, who portrayed Leon in Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Apostolides’ resume adds fuel to the fire, listing a mysterious “AAA Video Game” under NDA, with voice and performance capture roles akin to his prior Resident Evil work.

Renowned leaker Dusk Golem, who has shared extensive details about Requiem pre-reveal, claims Leon is the primary playable character, overshadowing Grace in the final game.
“Leon leads RE9 Requiem,” Dusk Golem stated before the trailer’s release. “He’s subtly present in the trailer, but his role grows clearer as marketing progresses and in the game itself.”
Dusk Golem suggests Requiem may conclude Leon’s trilogy, tracing his journey from rookie cop to seasoned agent and now mentor to Grace. Fans hope this arc brings Leon a well-earned happy ending.
Resident Evil: Requiem was unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2025, set for release on February 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
