Following speculation from gamers, developer Warhorse Studios has confirmed that medieval action RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD 2) will not include digital rights management (DRM) tools upon release.

Warhorse Studios has officially stated that its historical action RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will not utilize digital rights management, responding to community concerns about potential DRM integration. During a recent Twitch showcase, Warhorse PR lead Tobias Stolz-Zwilling directly addressed the confusion and misinformation circulating about the game's DRM status, confirming the absence of Denuvo protection.
"The reality is that KCD 2 will not contain Denuvo," Tobias clarified, "nor will it feature any DRM system whatsoever. We never officially confirmed its inclusion. While there were internal discussions and some mixed messages, the final decision is that no Denuvo or other DRM will be present."
He further requested that players stop bombarding the development team with DRM-related inquiries. "I'd like to put this matter to rest. Please stop commenting on every post asking 'Does the game have Denuvo?'" He emphasized that "unless Warhorse makes an official announcement," any circulating rumors about KCD 2's DRM should be considered inaccurate.

The gaming community often associates DRM with performance problems, leading to apprehension about its implementation. Denuvo, which functions as both DRM and anti-piracy protection, has been particularly controversial among PC players who claim it can sometimes render games unplayable.
Denuvo product manager Andreas Ullmann has responded to criticism against the software. In an interview, Ullmann suggested that negative perceptions stem from misinformation and confirmation bias, noting that the strong opposition to Denuvo often becomes excessively toxic.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is scheduled for February 2025 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Set in medieval Bohemia, the narrative follows Henry, an apprentice blacksmith witnessing his village's tragic downfall. Backers who pledged at least $200 during the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a complimentary copy.
