Holding On To Marvel’s Wolverine Updates

In their latest roadmap, Insomniac Games laid out their vision for the future but remained tight-lipped about new developments surrounding Marvel's Wolverine. In a recent interview with Variety, Co-Head Chad Dezern emphasized that while the studio is embarking on ambitious new projects, they are not ready to reveal specifics about Marvel's Wolverine. Dezern neither confirmed nor denied the swirling rumors of a 2025 release, stating, "As much as we have pent-up excitement, we got to hold on to it."

Marvel’s Wolverine First Announced in 2021

Marvel's Wolverine was first unveiled to fans during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a cinematic teaser trailer, confirming its development for the PlayStation 5. In a 2023 interview with the YouTube group Kinda Funny, Bryan Intihar, Creative Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine shares the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man, known as Earth-1048. Although fans hoped for crossover events or shared teasers, the only connection so far has been a Wolverine-themed suit, "The Best There Is," available for Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

In December 2023, Insomniac Games faced a ransomware attack, leading to the brief public exposure of Marvel's Wolverine's development assets and gameplay showcase.

Insomniac Games Current Projects

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced during New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac Games has clarified that there are no plans for additional story content for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. However, the PC version will include all updates since the PS5 release, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. The game will be available in two versions: Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition, the latter offering exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
