The Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be complete without a new Zelda title, and the latest Nintendo Direct unveiled an exciting addition to the franchise: a new Hyrule Warriors game titled "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment." "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" dives into the ancient history depicted in "Tears of the Kingdom." It follows Zelda as she travels back in time and allies with the last remaining Zonai, including Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia, to combat the forces of Ganondorf. The game features a cast of characters including Zelda, Rauru, Sonia, and other Secret Stone holders. The trailer showcased the unique abilities of these champions, such as Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding magic, Rauru using a sword-spear, and glimpses of other Sacred Stone wielders.

This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original "Hyrule Warriors" and "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity," which was a prequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." "Age of Calamity" received high praise, earning a 9/10 from us for being "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish." It offered a slightly unexpected take on the "Breath of the Wild" story, and it will be fascinating to see if "Age of Imprisonment" follows suit with its own unique narrative twists.

Be sure to check out all the announcements from today's Nintendo Direct for more exciting updates.
