James Bond audition tapes from 2005 have surfaced online, showcasing Henry Cavill's take on 007 before he ultimately lost the role to Daniel Craig. As reported by Games Radar, these tapes were shared on the Ron South YouTube channel, which belongs to an avid filmmaker with 1,890 subscribers. In addition to Cavill, the channel also featured auditions from Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr.
Cavill's auditions have garnered significant attention over the years, with many in the industry believing he would have been an excellent James Bond. Notably, Casino Royale director Martin Campbell praised Cavill's audition as "tremendous." Campbell reportedly favored Cavill for the role, but other decision-makers opted for Daniel Craig instead.
Despite missing out on James Bond, Cavill had the opportunity to fulfill his spy fantasy in the film Argylle, where he starred alongside a notable cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara. Unfortunately, the film did not fare well with critics, receiving a disappointing 4/10 rating from IGN.
Cavill's career remains diverse and successful, with standout roles such as Superman in the DC universe, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and numerous other projects.
