Take-Two Interactive, the parent company behind the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), is brimming with confidence that the game will hit the market in Fall 2025. Dive in to discover more about GTA 6's release window and the impressive performance of other titles under the Take-Two Interactive umbrella.
The excitement for GTA 6 continues to build as Take-Two Interactive reaffirms the game's target release for Fall 2025. During the company's Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed strong confidence in meeting this timeline. However, he acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, noting, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things."
Despite these caveats, Zelnick remains optimistic, stating, "We feel really good about it," in reference to the Fall 2025 release window. He refrained from sharing specific details about GTA 6's development but emphasized the company's dedication to quality, saying, "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Zelnick highlighted 2025 as a pivotal year for Take-Two Interactive, with a robust lineup of game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two," he announced. Key releases include "Sid Meier’s Civilization VII," which launched in Early Access today and is set for an official launch on February 11th. "Mafia: The Old Country" is slated for Summer, followed by "Grand Theft Auto VI" in the Fall, and "Borderlands 4" before the year's end.
Zelnick expressed high hopes for these titles, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company also projects significant growth, aiming for "sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027."
The GTA franchise remains a juggernaut for Take-Two Interactive, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide. The game's online component, GTA Online, enjoyed a stellar quarter thanks to its holiday update, "Agents of Sabotage." Additionally, GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, saw a 10% year-over-year growth in subscribers.
Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also performed exceptionally well in the third quarter. "NBA 2K25" sold over 7 million units, with significant increases in player engagement, including "Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%."
"Red Dead Redemption 2" continues to expand its reach, selling over 70 million units to date. The game's online mode, Red Dead Online, keeps the community engaged with regular updates, including the popular Halloween pass last quarter. Currently, the game is experiencing its highest concurrent player count on Steam, with 99,993 players according to SteamDB.
He praised Trevor as "a great character" and "awesome," and mentioned his continued friendship with his co-stars Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), noting they recently attended a Comic Con together.
In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg playfully suggested that Trevor could make a brief appearance in GTA 6, only to be killed off early in the game. However, he confirmed that he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and has no information on whether Trevor will return to the series.
