The official Forza Motorsport team has reached out to fans with an update regarding ongoing development support for both Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5, confirming that Turn 10 and Playground Games remain committed to maintaining their current titles.

While ongoing support might seem expected for recently released games, recent events made this announcement necessary. The statement follows precisely one month after reports surfaced about significant layoffs at Turn 10 during Microsoft's company-wide restructuring. Early speculation suggested approximately half of Turn 10's workforce was affected, though subsequent reports indicated potentially higher impacts, possibly involving most or all studio personnel. A former employee suggested Playground Games might continue Horizon support while Motorsport development had allegedly ceased entirely.

Xbox has remained silent regarding Turn 10's current status, Playground Games' operations, or which studio representatives are currently managing social media communications. Notably, the statement avoids any mention of future game development. Forza Motorsport remains relatively new at just two years old, while Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021 - making fans anticipate the next installment. Questions remain about potential future entries for either franchise, or whether development teams have been reduced to merely maintaining existing titles until resources are exhausted.

This announcement coincides with updates about other Xbox-supported projects. Today brought news of Contraband's cancellation by Avalanche Studios, while confirmation came that Hideo Kojima's OD remains in development. Both Everwild and Perfect Dark were confirmed canceled during last month's layoffs.
