In a recent update, Epic Games implemented significant changes to Fortnite's user interface, sparking widespread dissatisfaction among the game's community. Fortnite concluded its festive Winterfest event, which spanned 14 days and offered players free cosmetics, along with exciting collaborations featuring celebrities like Shaq, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey.
Currently, Fortnite is navigating through Chapter 6 Season 1, which has been largely well-received as a refreshing update. This season introduced a new map and revamped movement system, enhancing player mobility across the battlefield. Epic Games also added diverse new game modes such as Ballistic, Fortnite OG, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life. However, not all changes have been embraced by the community.
On January 14, Epic Games rolled out an update that brought numerous changes, new content, and cosmetics to Fortnite. A key modification was the redesign of the quest UI, which has stirred considerable controversy. The new design features quests organized into large collapsible blocks rather than a straightforward list. While some players appreciate the cleaner look, many find the new submenu structure cumbersome.
The new design does offer some benefits, such as easier access to quests for various game modes without the need to switch within the lobby. This was previously a source of frustration for players wanting to view quests for modes like Reload and Fortnite OG.
However, the primary grievance among players is the impact of the new UI during matches. Time is critical in-game, and the redesigned UI requires more time to navigate, leading to premature eliminations, especially when completing quests like the new Godzilla quests. Players have reported this issue repeatedly.
Despite the backlash against the UI changes, Epic Games has received positive feedback for another update: the integration of Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings. This addition has been well-received, offering players more cosmetic customization options. Overall, while there are some areas of discontent, the Fortnite community remains largely optimistic about the game's future.
