Lost Fantasy reunites Pires with Money artist Luca Casalanguida. The first issue boasts cover art by Casalanguida, Alex Diotto, Darick Robertson, and Jae Lee. A serialized backup story, Indigo Children: Exodus, a continuation of Pires' sci-fi series, will also be featured.

Image Comics provides this synopsis:

In Lost Fantasy, a hidden magical realm exists beneath our own. Over a century ago, a natural disaster forged a connection between the worlds, unleashing monsters. Since then, elite monster hunters, known as The Great Hunters, have collaborated with global leaders to safeguard our world. However, a recent catastrophic event in Montana has shattered the fragile peace, threatening both realms. Rookie monster hunter Henry Blackheart must confront this new threat.

"I'm thrilled to be back at Image Comics with Lost Fantasy, a project blending my love for Western comics like East of West and Something is Killing the Children with the immersive world-building and action of the JRPGs I grew up with," Pires shared with IGN. "The protagonist's spiky white hair and large sword are a direct tribute to Tetsuya Nomura's iconic design for Cloud in Final Fantasy."

Pires adds, "The 'Lost' in the title subtly honors Hironobu Sakaguchi's Lost Odyssey, a criminally underrated masterpiece from Mistwalker."
